on Festival is a vibrant event that celebrates the richness and vitality of Greek culture, especially its contemporary music and performing arts. With its fresh outlook and youthful spirit, Ekon Festival is constantly growing in size and importance, pushing beyond geographical and cultural borders, looking ahead to the future. Since it was launched in 2008, the festival has put together an impressive line-up of acclaimed artists and performers from the UK and around the world, seen the premier of thought-provoking new works, and attracted an increasingly international audience. Its programmed ranges from rock concerts to orchestral recitals, from experimental music to opera, from popular instrumentals to Greek urban blues, from folk dance to contemporary drama and performance. The next Ekon Festival 2010 promises to be a dynamic, if not audacious and engaging event. I look forward to seeing you all there. Maria ThanassaDirector of Ekon Festival“Ekon Festival has brought together a vivid crowd of talented artists whose work deserves to be heard by audiences who wish for freshness and creativity in the arts.” – Christina Athinodorou, composer
