WOKING DANCE FESTIVAL 8TH EDITION 19 FEB - 6 MAR 2010

ABOUT US Working Dance Festival presents seasons of international dance, commissions new work through an associate artist scheme and engages local people directly in creating and performing dance. The festival is the largest dance festival in the South East of England (outside London). The festival is crated by the Artistic Director, Mary Brady. Selection of companies and artists is by invitation. We are a small organization and as such cannot guarantee to respond to every request by artists and companies, although we do try. Working Dance Festival receives funding from Arts Council England and Working Borough Council

on Festival is a vibrant event that celebrates the richness and vitality of Greek culture, especially its contemporary music and performing arts. With its fresh outlook and youthful spirit, Ekon Festival is constantly growing in size and importance, pushing beyond geographical and cultural borders, looking ahead to the future. Since it was launched in 2008, the festival has put together an impressive line-up of acclaimed artists and performers from the UK and around the world, seen the premier of thought-provoking new works, and attracted an increasingly international audience. Its programmed ranges from rock concerts to orchestral recitals, from experimental music to opera, from popular instrumentals to Greek urban blues, from folk dance to contemporary drama and performance. The next Ekon Festival 2010 promises to be a dynamic, if not audacious and engaging event. I look forward to seeing you all there. Maria ThanassaDirector of Ekon Festival“Ekon Festival has brought together a vivid crowd of talented artists whose work deserves to be heard by audiences who wish for freshness and creativity in the arts.” – Christina Athinodorou, composer

The seventh edition of the Holloway Arts Festival has just come to an end. In total over 8,000 people have taken part in this year's festival making it a huge success. The packed 10-day programmed featured over 40 events, which showcased the work of local artists and film makers and brought national and international performers to the area, as well as giving people a chance to try out arts activities in workshops. As one local mum said to me, “There really is something for everyone this year”. Not only have there been some great new events like the Stand Up Comedy for Children with Paul Lyalls and Simon Munnery and Archway Open House (artists exhibited their work in venues around Holloway and Archway) but also plenty of the familiar, popular activities like the Arts and Crafts stalls in the Arts Zone on the Big Day Out in Whittington Park and our own film festival, Reel Islington Screenings.
